Growing the Future of New Zealand Coffee

New Zealand Coffee Producers Association (NZCPA) supports the development of a premium, specialty coffee production industry in New Zealand, Aotearoa — built on quality, innovation, and care for our land and people.

Welcome, Haere Mai

The coffee growing industry in New Zealand is currently emerging and small-scale, and this is exactly where its strength lies...

Harnessing our reputation for producing high quality food and beverage products, New Zealand's emerging coffee production industry is being established to produce premium quality coffee beans that are handled with care at every stage.

A product that is deeply connected with stories of origin, environmental sustainability, ethical practices, and kiwi innovation.

We're here to inform, connect, and develop collectively

NZCPA has been established to bring growers, researchers, and industry partners together to build knowledge, develop capability and instill best practice from seed to cup.

Establishing strong foundations from the outset with the aim for New Zealand coffee grown to enter the global market with a reputation as a sought-after, premium product with attributes that are anchored in provenance, ethics and innovation.

What began in 2023 as a discussion between curious attendees, has set an exciting journey in motion to collectively develop a specialty coffee production industry in New Zealand...

Are you growing coffee?

We would love to hear from anyone successfully growing more than 50 coffee plants. In our aim to support the development of the NZ coffee industry, we have created a short survey, collating this data will be ongoing and will help us to:

  • Build the picture of our current position and provide useful information to understand what support is needed and who we can connect across the industry.
  • Map the different varieties that are currently being grown in New Zealand so we can understand the best environments for them.
  • Start to understand what processing equipment currently exists as it may provide an opportunity for collaboration in processing coffee and help to bring in expertise that will increase the collective capability for achieving high quality specialty coffee.
